Mitcham Village Art and Crafts Association Inc

MVAC is an incorporated body administered by a committee which is elected annually and is an independent community organisation. It does not receive any government assistance. All centre staff are volunteers

However, it relies on annual subscriptions for its continuing survival, and encourages all those with an interest in the arts and history to become financial members of the Association

The one membership covers all activities, including the Mitcham Historical Society, and entitles members to a 10% discount on items purchased from the Shop. A quarterly newsletter outlining coming events is sent to all members, who also receive invitations to exhibition openings

• $25 family membership (includes children under 18 years of age)
• $5 pensioners

Mitcham Historical Society

Heritage Preservers and New Members Needed
The Mitcham Historical Society is looking for some young or "young at heart" people with energy and enthusiasm for preserving our heritage

Volunteers are needed to join in planning and liaison with the residents of the proposed Mitcham Village historic zone and also Mitcham Council

The Society's goal is to ensure the retention and preservation of the existing character of the Mitcham Village area, taking up issues such as the need for paving and underground cables for heritage lamps

Some fundraising is needed to facilitate the restoration of local shops and cottages, projects for which Mitcham Council heritage advisers provide great support
